Alvarez Gomez - Spain
With its Agua de Colonia Concentrada, the family business Álvarez Gómez from Madrid has created a traditional fragrance over several generations. For more than a hundred years, the spicy-fresh fragrance blend with lemon, bergamot, lavender and rosemary has become indispensable in the bathroom cabinets of many Spanish families - and is now also on course for international success. As well as the Agua de Colonia series, the Álvarez Gómez range offers further exquisite care products from the beard care series to the spa line.
The traditional company was founded by cousins Herminio Álvarez Gómez, Belarmino Gómez and Emilio Vuelta Gómez. The three moved to Madrid from northern Spain, to seek their fortune and get an education.
When their former teacher retired, they took over his well-established drugstore and continued to expand it. In 1899, they opened under the name Álvarez Gómez - the surname of cousin Herminio, who invested the most in the new company. The business soon became the local meeting place for artists, politicians and travelling salespeople.
In this inspirational environment, they created their own Agua de Colonia, which made them famous throughout the country. Today, the purist design with Art Nouveau elements is still the distinctive trademark of Álvarez Gómez care products.
